47-288 AXL Evaporator. Carbon steel shell and tubeside. (1866) 3/4" tubes. It is used in the commercial refrigeration industry. Liquid ammonia is passed over the tubes which are heated by ethylene glycol at which point the ammonia is vaporized and passed into the condensing unit on top. After the ammonia is passed through the vaporizing stage it is then passed through the vent in the top of the unit and passed usually to a compressor to be used in the refrigeration process.
